What is "The Sixth Day Six?"

One of the things I want to do in 2022 is be a bit more diligent about what I share and how I share it online.

I love to post articles and am fairly picky about what I share where (especially Facebook….good Lord…). While I do read quite a bit, I want to be more thoughtful about the pieces that stood out to me that week.

So I created “The Sixth Day Six.”

On Saturday mornings (get it..sixth day??), I’ll send out a post noting six interesting things I came across on the internet that past week. For each article/video/idea/podcast/etc., I include one key quote or point that stood out to me.

You can read my most recent one here.

I started messing with that idea during my social media fast during Lent and kept it up somewhat haphazardly. Sometimes I did it. Sometimes I didn’t. In 2022, I want to be more diligent about it and make that my primary place to share interesting content. Not news feeds.

News feeds lack context. People are scrolling quickly. I could find something interesting that requires more nuance than what a single social post could provide. Also, if someone has a response or a comment, they can respond to me via email instead of stirring stuff up in the comment thread of a Facebook post.

Plus, typically, Facebook is only going to show you what you want to see. If I share something out of your circle of interests, you may never see it.

The Sixth Day Six is mostly an exercise for me to read widely, build a new discipline and not knee jerk share articles as often. Hopefully it’s something other people will find value in as well.

I’m keeping this locked down to email subscribers to the blog (which I syndicate via Substack). Subscribing to my blog is free (and always will be). But it’s something exclusive for the folks who have opted in.

Interested? Put your email in the form below. I promise I don’t share or sell your data to anyone. Just the email to be able to send you new posts.
